Only recently Balenciaga changed partnership and choose Marcolin above Safilo which used to be its license partner for the eyewear collections. The first, new “capsule” collection by Marcolin for Balenciaga was about to be released and the designs were already approved by the Balenciaga team. However, nobody had counted with a designer change at the fashion house. Nicolas Ghesquière left after 15 years and Alexander Wang took over. As a result all new (sun)glasses landed in the litter box as Mr. Wang, of course, prefers to design a collection with his own ideas and taste. For that reason it will not be before the second half of 2013 that we will see the launch of a new Balenciaga eyewear collection. Fans of the iconic brand will have to wait a while.
