This week Italian eyewear manufacturer Safilo announced the resignment of Melchert Groot and Jeffrey Cole from the Board of Directors to make room for at least Luisa Deplazes de Andrade Delgado, a specialist in Human Resources and new media. Her appointment was supposed to be confirmed in a special meeting of the Board this week. This appointment could be related to recent developments which force Safilo to fire about 1.000 employees. Main reason for this decision is the loss of the important Armani license. A preliminary agreement with the Unions has already been signed. Meetings with the Ministry of Employment will follow.
