Do we get smaller prescription frames?

The vintage trend still dominates the eye fashion and the beautiful large frames in dark tints seem here to stay forever. All major suppliers surprise us again and again with new great designs and launch new vintage styles all the time. Nevertheless we see the first signs of another trend. In more and more collections we recognize smaller retro styles. Often round shapes or at least with round curves or pantos. Most of them metals, some plastics. We have seen them already in this Summer’s sunglasses collections like those of Ray-Ban, Persol, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs and of course trendsetter Linda Farrow. This Summer I myself will often wear a small pair of retro sunglasses of Raf Simons (by Linda Farrow) and it feels like it is exactly the right time to do it. But it’s not just about sunglasses. We see these retro influences in prescription frames as well. A major advantage is that most of these frames are produced of metal which will probably lower the pressure on the acetate production a little bit. This is however not the only reason to welcome these frames. In fashion we see a hippie revival with loads of attention for the sixties and seventies, Abba parties and retrospectives about John Lennon. He and his fans used to wear these kind of frames all the time and in that way the former Beatle is the best ambassador we could wish.
