Not too much excitement or spectacular news at this year’s MIDO at Milan but certainly a lot of beautiful frames and sunglasses. The optical branch seems to take its time to recover from a few less good years and create some shareholder value. The ambiance at the fair was calm and quiet, the booths were smaller, a new fashion square with all the large suppliers dominated one hall and the trend hall as usual attracted most visitors. Friday was relatively busy, Saturday and Sunday it seemed less crowded as expected. Most remarkable probably that the fair wouldn’t release the date for next year’s edition which led to rumours about a possible change of date and even location next year. Maybe MIDO goes back to May?
