Post image for Luxottica sees growth in new sales channels

As expected Luxottica recently presented very good results for last year. Sales increased to more as 7 billion and net income to 542 million euro. Net income increased more as the sales and the growth in the fourth quarter stayed behind the increase in the full year 2012 but that could be due to the sales season. The expectation is that within the next decade globally about 500 million people more will be defined as vision correction wearers which means loads of opportunities for the eyewear giant despite a currently less positive economic environment. The press release clearly mentions that new sales channels like department stores and stores at airports, grow faster as the traditional optical channel which with its still far too high threshold and the still too medical approach misses a lot of (sunglasses) sales and doesn’t profit enough of the growing demand.
