Those who plan to go to New York this Summer, should certainly include a visit to the MOCA. Until September the museum hosts the exposition ‘Frontrow’. Frontrow gives a great insight in the work of Chinese American designers from the eighties until now and focusses on their influence on the current fashion trends. From the trendy duo Humberto Leon and Carol Lim who with their store Opening Ceremony and their work for Kenzo became very famous, to Phillip Lim, Jason Wu and Derek Lam who open more and more stores worldwide. Phillip Lim for example is now available in the Amsterdam department store De Bijenkorf and his latest eyewear collection is fresh and different. Interesting to see how it all happened and to learn more about this generation of designers who challenge the status quo of the ‘old’ European fashion brands.
