From Moscot to Marc Jacobs

New York is a melting pot of cultures and styles. Yesterday at the first bright day of the year you could immediately spot all the new Summer trends in the streets. From colourblocking and hippie to military and stylish chique. Of course the same is true for (sun)glasses. Nowhere you see that many real vintage styles from flee markets as here but also nowhere you see that many of the newest sunglasses. From the great catwalk styles of Prada until the latest Marc Jacobs’ like these ones with the vintage-inspired striped pattern. You can buy them everywhere. From the tiny and not very impressing optical stores, to branded stores like those of Alain Mikli, Oliver Peoples and Moscot to the major department stores and of course the large sunglass outlets like Ilori, Solstice and Sunglass Hut. Now that the sun starts to shine they are even more popular although I’m still not impressed by the presentations. That could be much better and in certain Dutch stores they actually do much better already. Inspiration enough however. This week I will speak and interview Michael Hansen, ceo of Ilori and on Thursday we will be present at the launch of the L’AGENCE collection at Ilori in Soho. We keep you posted.
