While the Dutch opticians continue to perform rather well, the fashion industry did less good with a decrease in sales of 6,1% in the first half of 2011 compared to the same period one year earlier. Women’s wear did worst with a decrease of 7,2%. Men’s fashion did relatively better but still lost 2,6%. Remarkable is that stores in the big cities in the Western part of the country performed less good as those in the Northern areas with a decrease of even 10,6%. Nevertheless even a decreasing market counts winners. About 25% of all stores report an increase in sales!
Difficult year for the fashion industry
