Confusion in New York about the Google “glasses”

The New York fashion scene is still a little bit confused and doesn’t know what to think about it. A few days ago Diane von Fürstenberg showed her new collection during the New York Fashion Week. As accessories the models wore the Google “glasses” with camera’s and an inside screen. Actually they were used to cover both show and backstage activities, the result is expected to be published tomorrow. The American fashion editors did not know what to think about it. Shows are considered to be the artistic highlight of the season and this was a pure commercial activity which was even more clear when Google founder Sergey Brin appeared at the catwalk at the end of the show. The “glasses” are certainly not a fashion statement and looked rather ugly at the models faces. Nevertheless Google and Diane von Fürstenberg got what they wanted; a lot of extra publicity although the comments weren’t very positive. And almost nobody wrote about the collection. The Google “glasses” will first be available for selected buyers at a price of about 1500 euro and are supposed to enter the stores not earlier as in 2014. Interesting gadgets and a new step forward in the direction of a virtual world.
