Trendy Dutch lifestyle magazine Glamcult once again paid attention to the young New-York based designer Phillip Lim. This time the reason was Phillip Lim took his inspiration for his A/W 2012 collection from comics situated in a rough urban environment. Think of comics like Batman or Sin City. To complete the story the designer asked illustrator Jan Duursema to draw an own comic for him with all characters wearing 3.1 Phillip Lim designs. Duursema is not just an illustrator, she is one of the best of this time and responsible for some of the Star Wars episodes. For the plot and the texts she cooperated with writer John Ostrander. The strip was called “Kill the Night” and can be found at the website of 3.1 Phillip Lim. All attention to his work in magazines like Glamcult illustrate his growing popularity as one of the major young designers of this time. The brand features a great eyewear collection, produced and distributed by MODO,with its design studios in New York as well.
