Safilo increased sales in the third quarter of this year with 11,9% compared to the same period last year. The first nine months resulted in an increase of 5,6%. Increasing sales doesn’t mean profit. The company still lost 365.000 euro in the third quarter and 3,6 million euro in the first nine moths. However this is much better and the losses reported in 2009. The Italian sunglasses and prescription frames manufacturer seems to be on the right way helped by growing demand worldwide. Both retail and wholesale division contribute to the good results and especially encouraging is the growing demand for more the exclusive luxury brands. Sunglasses perform better as prescription frames and Carrera is still the main success factor. Europe recovers slowly, the Americas do well and China becomes more and more the most important market in Asia.
